Summer Jazz

Summer Jazz

Summer has arrived! Whether you spend your days at the beach or in the woods or in the urban jungle, take some music with you. Here are some great jazz tunes for summertime fun.

OK, OK, this first one is a cliche at this point. But try to put on some fresh ears and listen to the absolute genius that is the writing of Antonio Carlos Jobim.

Just about any Brubeck song is a perfect compliment to summer, but “Summer Song” might be the most explicitly appropriate.

Sure, you might be spending the summer in Jersey, but you can close your eyes and let Sonny Rollins take you to the islands.

Finally, here are two from Nat King Cole. Why two? Well, he’s just about the greatest, that’s why. Have a great summer!

Wonderful selections. May I also suggest “Summer Night” – Keith Jarrett Trio Live in Tokyo 1996. Exquisite bass solo by Gary Peacock. PS. Love your new CD Yoko – it’s part of my daily listening!
