New Video! Live performance of “Babe I’m Gonna Leave You”
Yoko Miwa Trio – “Babe I’m Gonna Leave You”
“Babe I’m Gonna Leave You” by Anne Bredon from the Yoko Miwa Trio’s performance in the 2021 East Coast Jazz Festival. Featuring Yoko Miwa on piano, Will Slater and Brad Barrett on acoustic bass, Scott Goulding on drums. Recorded at Wellspring Sound in Boston, MA on March 5, 2021. Video by Roger Metcalf, audio engineered by Matt Hayes.
This version is based on the arrangement by Jimmy Page that appears on Led Zeppelin’s debut album. Yoko’s take on this song also appears on her latest chart topping release on Ubuntu Music titled “Songs of Joy” https://orcd.co/rxak2vk
The East Coast Jazz Festival was virtual due to the pandemic and for this performance the trio wore masks and socially distanced following CDC protocols. This was the first time Will Slater and Brad Barrett played together, the song was done in one take and captures the spontaneity and raw energy this trio critically acclaimed trio has become known for. Brad Barrett is featured here in his signature virtuosic bowed bass playing.

Awww 🥰 Thank you Carol! Can’t wait to see you again! ❤️
Hhhmmmm…two basses on an old rock and roll hit, huh? The imagination, versatility, and passion of these players never ceases to amaze.
Thank you Scott! Hope to see you in the audience soon! 😍
Please play the Philadelphia area! Your version of this song is breathtaking! I hope you sent it to Robert and Jimmy 😀! I hear it every night on WRTI in Philadelphia. You are amazing.
Hi Lynn, thank you so much for the kind words! I’d love to perform in Philly, my team is working on it. Be sure to join my newsletter email list to stay informed or you can keep checking my show schedule here. We performed at the Museum of Art several years ago and had a blast! I’m glad to hear WRTI is playing my music, I had no idea. I would love for Robert and Jimmy to hear my version of this song, hopefully it will happen at some point. -Yoko
