The choice of pianos for the Cambridge club is between Yamaha and Steinway only? But not a Mason & Hamlin made just north in Haverhill? Man, a Boston-based pianist (with deeper roots in the city now) does not consider the venerable piano maker started in Boston and still made in Massachusetts? Okay, no doubt you’ll still sound as good as always on any well made piano.

I’ve played some beautiful M&H pianos that I really liked! The owner was originally trying to get M&H to place a piano there like an endorsement but they don’t do that sort of thing. He has his heart set on a Steinway but many keep recommending Yamaha because of the lower cost of maintenance. Size is another issue, he wants to have as big a piano as possible while still leaving enough room on the stage for the other musicians.
