Wow, what a story and a show. Herbie Hancock’s “Maiden Voyage” is one of the greatest jazz albums ever, although Yoko got sick of it!

I love the number that concluded this show!

  2. Yoko Miwa says:

    Hi John,
I didn’t get sick of Maiden Voyage, I just didn’t yet understand and fully appreciate it at that point. Now I don’t know what was not to like!

    • John T. says:

Oh, I remember a few years back when we were talking at Les Z. and I was telling my friend, the drummer, that you learned on one of our favorite album’s ‘Maiden Voyage” and you waved your hand and said “Oh, I got so tired of that.”

That is why I thought that. Must have misunderstood.

  3. Patrick G says:

That’s a great story! As a teacher, it’s interesting to learn about other people’s creative process. Thanks Yoko, you are a great talent and an inspiration!
